Project Overview
The intent of the project is to improve safety, increase capacity and address operational deficiencies at the Mascoma Street/High Street/Mechanic Street intersection. The project involves the construction of a roundabout to replace the dangerous and confusing four-leg intersection. Work includes roadway widening, curbing, retaining walls, drainage, lighting, utility relocation, and landscaping. The project will provide accommodations to maintain the Mascoma River Greenway that crosses through the intersection. The project is currently in the preliminary engineering phase. The final design will take place in 2023. The project is Federally funded with a cost-share of 80% Federal and 20% local money.
Project construction is expected to begin in the Spring of 2024 and will continue through the Summer of 2025, with a likely winter shutdown. (Please note that this schedule is dependent upon securing all required permits in a timely manner.)
