Substances may damage the treatment processes or pass through the treatment plant and into the Connecticut River, these substances include:
- Household Chemicals
To avoid causing a problem, substances such as these should be kept out of the sewer system and be disposed of properly. The periodic hazardous waste collection events held at the City's Landfill are a perfect opportunity for proper disposal.
If you are uncertain if something is safe for disposal to the sewer, the staff at the Wastewater Plant would be happy to discuss this.
