[ARCHIVED] Fireworks Safety and Rules

Fireworks Safety poster

The Lebanon Fire Department would like to take this opportunity in advance of the July 4th holiday to remind all residents and visitors that consumer fireworks are not permitted to be used within the City of Lebanon.

The City of Lebanon Code, Section 72-13(A) states the following:

General. The display, sale, and discharge of 1.4G fireworks is prohibited within the City of Lebanon, New Hampshire. The display and discharge of 1.3G fireworks shall meet the requirements of all federal, state, and local laws, ordinances and administrative rules.

Those fireworks classified as 1.4G, Class C Fireworks, or consumer fireworks, are smaller fireworks that can be found for purchase at a local fireworks store found within the State of New Hampshire. They typically do not require any training or permit to purchase or use. Some examples of these devices are Jumping Jacks, Roman Candles, and Artillery Shells.

Any novelty firework that is unregulated by the State of New Hampshire Fire Marshal’s Office is allowed for use within the City of Lebanon. Some examples of these devices are sparklers, party poppers, snappers, or snakes. Learn more about these types of devices

The Lebanon Fire Department urges anyone utilizing sparklers or other novelty items to use good judgment, be extremely careful, and have a fire extinguisher, hose, or bucket of water nearby during use. Please review the State of New Hampshire Fire Marshal’s Office Fireworks Safety Tips for more information.

We invite you to enjoy Lebanon's Fourth of July Celebration which will include a fireworks display. If you have any questions regarding this information, please contact the Lebanon Fire Department at 603-448-8810.
