[ARCHIVED] Questions & Answers Open House for the Proposed Zoning Amendments

On March 14th, Lebanon voters will vote on three proposed amendments to the City’s Zoning Ordinance. Because the amendments impact the regulations for the City’s residential districts, voter approval is required. The City Council, Planning Board, and Conservation Commission have all approved and endorsed the proposed amendments, which consist of the following:

  • AMENDMENT #1 – Minor textual revisions needed to implement changes to the Planned Unit Development (PUD) regulations which were adopted by the City Council in January.
  • AMENDMENT #2 – Regulations allowing the Zoning Board of Adjustment to permit home based contractors on large lots in the rural zoning districts, on a case by case basis.
  • AMENDMENT #3 – Allowing the Planning Board to permit renewable energy facilities on residential lots, on a case by case basis.

The Planning Department has prepared a set of Questions & Answers for each of the three zoning amendments to help explain what they are and what they do.

For additional questions and information, please ask us! Planning Department staff will host an OPEN HOUSE on WEDNESDAY MARCH 8, 2017 to assist residents in understanding the purpose of the amendments and how they may or may not affect your property. The open house will be held from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM in Council Chambers, located on the 5th Floor of City Hall, 51 North Park Street.

Planning staff are also available during regular office hours to answer questions by phone at 448-1524, by e-mail at planning@lebcity.com, or in person at the Planning Department, open Monday - Friday, 8:00AM to 4:30PM, located on the 1st floor of City Hall, 51 North Park Street.
