[ARCHIVED] Glenwood Cemetery Fountain Restoration

With the restoration of a fountain at Glenwood Cemetery, Lebanon has put another feather in its cap as the “The City of Fountains”.

With gratitude to the City’s volunteer-led Fountain Working Group, a function of the Lebanon Heritage Commission, the Glenwood Cemetery Fountain is a fresh attraction for residents and visitors alike to enjoy near the downtown.

As captured by Susan Apel in her recent Artful blog post, the Glenwood Cemetery Fountain gives new purpose for getting out to visit City properties, where surrounding monuments and grounds have also been getting attention anew thanks to the City’s Public Works Department and Board of Cemetery Trustees.

The City of Lebanon seeks to restore and promote art and cultural assets for present and future generations and gladly took on stewardship of the fountain during a formal City Council dedication on July 15, 2020. The Council used the occasion to recognize the work of the Fountain Working Group through a resolution read by Mayor McNamara.

An on-site event at Glenwood Cemetery will be organized by the Fountain Working Group for a date later this summer to celebrate contributions that made the project possible.
