On Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 9:25AM, the Lebanon Police Department received a 911 call from a female party who stated that her 35-year-old son thought he was observing armed individuals outside their home and subsequently armed himself with a handgun. The calling party reported that her son was acting strangely.
Lebanon Police Patrol and Detective Units responded along with the Lebanon Police Department Tactical Containment Team. A portion of Mechanic Street, in the area of the subject’s residence, was closed during this incident while area residents were evacuated from their homes as a precaution. A Lebanon Fire Department ambulance was staged at the command post. Lebanon police officers attempted several times to contact the male subject by telephone and at 9:59AM, the male exited the home and was taken into protective custody without further incident.
After being taken into protective custody, the male was transported to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center for evaluation. The male will not face any charges as a result of this incident. A loaded 9mm handgun was subsequently recovered from inside the home.
