[ARCHIVED] Suspected Campsite Leads Police to Meth Lab

On April 10, 2017, Lebanon Police took a report of two individuals making methamphetamine in the woods off of Airport Road. An investigation into the allegations of manufacturing methamphetamine produced information that two individuals staying at a nearby hotel were walking back and forth to the campsite with materials in a backpack for methamphetamine production and possibly “cooking” meth at the campsite.

A search in the woods behind the hotel revealed a campsite that contained materials and evidence leading investigators to conclude that it was an active site where methamphetamine was being produced through a “one pot” method.

On this same date at approximately 3:00PM, the two individuals believed to be responsible were located during a traffic stop on Mechanic Street.  Stanley Sousa, age 26, of West Lebanon and Damian J. Sumner, age 21, of Moretown, Vermont were subsequently arrested. Both Sousa and Sumner were charged with Class A Felony Manufacturing Methamphetamine.

Sousa refused a bail commissioner and will be arraigned at the Grafton Superior Court on April 11, 2017. Sousa is out on Parole for Robbery and the New Hampshire Department of Probation and Parole responded to assist.  Sumner was held on $10,000 cash bail and will be arraigned on April 11, 2017 at the Grafton Superior Court.

The DEA’s Clandestine Lab Team was called out and assisted with neutralizing the “one pot” meth lab and cleaned up the hazardous materials associated with making methamphetamine.   Lebanon Officers Lieutenant Stephen St. Louis, Corporal Michael Wright and Detective Justin Logan are members of the DEA’s Clandestine Lab and assisted with the cleanup.
