[ARCHIVED] Appointment of Deputy Chief of Police

The Lebanon Police Department is pleased to announce the appointment of Lieutenant Matthew S. Isham as Deputy Chief of Police, effective May 9, 2021.

Deputy Chief Isham began his career with law enforcement in 1996 with the Claremont New Hampshire Police Department, serving five years as a Patrol Officer, Detective, and Canine Handler, before being promoted to Sergeant in 2001.

In 2003, he joined the Lebanon Police Department and facilitated the canine program, helping with the selection and purchasing of new canines. In 2006, Isham was promoted to Corporal and served as the training officer for the department.

Recognizing Isham’s strong capabilities, he was quickly promoted to Lieutenant in 2007. The duties of Lieutenant included serving as the department’s Detective Commander, with the responsibilities of felony level investigations, evidence storage, and being the liaison to the Grafton County Attorney’s office. Additionally, Isham represented the department as Prosecutor in the District Court, giving Isham the opportunity to work with community partners to create a Mental Health Court Program known as Halls of Hope. With the assistance of local mental health partners, Isham also founded the Crisis Intervention Team, the first for the department. This program was extended to assist other Police Departments in the Upper Valley region, including the Hartford Police Department.

Deputy Chief Isham’s devotion to the department, commitment to the City of Lebanon, and passion for law enforcement has made Chief Phillip Roberts confident in Isham’s appointment as the Deputy Chief of Police. “Matt Isham has been an integral part of Lebanon PD for the past eighteen years,” Chief Roberts stated. “I’m looking forward to working with him in his new role.”

Join the Lebanon Police Department in congratulating Deputy Chief of Police Matthew S. Isham!
