[ARCHIVED] Board and Committee Members Needed!

Be A Voice in Your Community banner

Would you like to make a meaningful contribution to the community? Boards and Committees are an important part of our local government and help weave the fabric of our beautiful City. Their success is entirely reliant upon the selfless dedication of our volunteers along with the support of City staff.

While we are always searching for community members to fill seats on our boards & committees, the City is facing a critical need of members for the Heritage Commission and the Board of Assessors.

Heritage Commission

Currently, we are seeking two regular members and three alternate members to serve on the Heritage Commission.

The Heritage Commission is important to protect Lebanon’s resources that are valued for their historic, cultural, aesthetic or significance to the community with their natural build or cultural context. This Commission helps Lebanon maintain its beautiful, historic charm.  If you love history, please Please apply online.

Please contact the Planning Department for further information.

Board of Assessors

Currently, we are seeking one regular member and one alternate member to serve on the Board of Assessors.

The Board of Assessors are the decision-making authority for all real property assessments in the City. They ensure equitable, defensible assessments for all taxpayers in Lebanon, including decisions on property tax abatement requests, exemptions, and changes to property values. The Board meets as needed and conducts business regularly, therefore a full roster is needed for optimal efficiency. Does this interest you? Please apply online

Please contact the Assessing Office for further information.

Alternate Positions on Other Boards and Committees

There are also alternate member positions available on the Planning Board, Lebanon Energy Advisory Committee and Conservation Commission. Alternate members step in when there is not a quorum of regular members present for a meeting, which helps ensure that business continues uninterrupted. Being an alternate member is a great way to start volunteering. And, when a regular member steps down from a Board or Committee, alternate members are given preference to fill the vacancies.

Are you interested in serving on one of these Boards or Commissions? Please apply online.
