Advance Transit Plans Temporary Schedule Reduction on Some Routes
Released by Advance Transit on December 29, 2021
As you have heard in the news, businesses are facing serious labor shortages, particularly in the transportation industry. Advance Transit is not only facing the same shortage in available personnel, but its drivers must also have Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with the Passenger Endorsement further reducing the labor pool. We have dealt with our own shortage of drivers through a very active hiring program and by putting our supervisory personnel, who are fully licensed, behind the wheel of our buses. However, we have reached the point where to effectively train our newly hired personnel for their CDL exam and provide the necessary additional safety and route training, we must reduce some of our services for a temporary period during January and February. The reductions will be detailed on our website; a brief summary follows:
Effective Monday, January 3, 2022
- The Dartmouth Downtown shuttle frequency will change from, a bus every 10 minutes, to a bus every 13 minutes. Mid-day service will suspend for half an hour from 2:00pm-2:30pm.
- Mid-day suspension on the Brown route from 1:10pm – 1:55pm.
- Mid-day suspension of the 12:25pm departure from Vail on the Blue route to DHMC and the 12:45pm departure from DHMC to Hanover. Riders can instead use the 12:40pm departure from Vail or the 1:00pm departure from DHMC.
Effective Monday, January 10, 2022
- Additionally, we will reduce frequency on the Blue route between Hanover and DHMC to one bus every 30 minutes, with the elimination of the departures from Vail that are at (:25) and (:55) minutes past the hour and the departures from DHMC that are at (:15) and (:45) minutes past the hour.
All other service continues and we are hopeful that normal service can return on February 28, 2022. Please consult our website at AdvanceTransit.com for any new messages.
