Dear Lebanon Residents,
The Lebanon DEI Commission condemns in the strongest possible terms the unprovoked Russian invasion of Ukraine. We stand in solidarity and compassion with all those affected by the ongoing violence—those directly involved and also their families, friends, and colleagues, whether in Ukraine, in Russia, here in Lebanon, or abroad.
This Commission stands against all forms of war and violent oppression. We recognize that, in addition to the attack on Ukraine, in the past week there have also been attacks in Syria, Yemen, and Somalia. We also condemn this violence.
To strive for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is to envision a world in which all people are equal in dignity and entrusted with all the rights and freedoms due to human beings. This vision cannot be reached through violence, but only through the work of extending our hands to one another in our respective times of need.
The Lebanon DEI Commission applauds the efforts of those opening their homes and homelands to those seeking refuge from violence, and those seeking peace in this time of conflict.
