Do You Have a Residential or Commercial Alarm System?

The City of Lebanon Communications Division is tasked with monitoring and dispatching police, fire, or emergency medical service personnel to alarms within the city.  Alarms come into the communications center in a variety of ways.  Generally, it is by a central monitoring station such as ADT or Simply Safe (among others) who are paid by customers to monitor their alarms and to call the communications center when one is received. The communications center also monitors alarms on an alarm receiver in our dispatching center. Most alarms are commercial alarms but we also monitor residential alarms as well.  

The alarm ordinance, Chapter 11 of the City Code, allows the communications center to bill for alarms we monitor; $500.00/year for commercial and $250.00/year for residential. Regardless of whether the city monitors your alarm system, or if it is monitored by a commercial company, everyone is required to fill out an alarm user permit application and submit it for our records. This permit provides us with vital information such as the address, descriptions of the residence or commercial building, type of alarm, and after-hour contact phone numbers to reach someone in the event of an emergency. The alarm ordinance also allows us to bill for false alarms received regardless if we monitor them directly or if they are called in by a central station. The ordinance allows for 3 false alarms per calendar year gratis. After that, the Lebanon Communications Division bills at $100.00/false alarm. The communications center also provides a guide to help prevent false or nuisance alarms
