Summer heat safety message with thermometer showing high temperatures

Due to the forecasted high heat index for Thursday, August 4, 2022, the following information is being provided for residents and community members.

Cooling Areas

Due to the forecasted extreme weather conditions, the following facilities will be open to the public as cooling areas from August 4 through 6, 2022.

Lebanon Library
9 East Park Street
Lebanon, NH 03766
10:00am-8:00pm (Thursday)
10:00am-5:00pm (Friday and Saturday)
Kilton Library
80 Main Street
West Lebanon, NH 03784
1:00pm-6:00pm (Thursday)
10:00am-5:00pm (Friday and Saturday)

Swimming Locations

In addition to the above, the Lebanon Veterans Memorial Pool, which is usually closed on Thursdays, will be open on Thursday, August 4, 2022 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. Please visit for regular pool hours, fees, and more.

Heat Safety Information

The Lebanon Fire Department offers the following heat safety information and reminds people to be safe from heat emergencies. 

Stay Notified

Notifications regarding information and cooling shelters, as needed, will be distributed via our LebAlert service, the City's website, and local media outlets. We encourage people to sign up for LebAlerts by visiting to receive important City information. 

Heat Emergency Guidance

The Lebanon Fire and Emergency Management Department provides the following information related to the potential effects of extreme temperatures. There are a number of risks associated with exposure to heat. Please see the below information and, as always, if you have questions, please contact the Lebanon Fire Department at 603-448-8810.

Anyone requiring immediate assistance or suffering a heat emergency should call 911 immediately. For further information, please contact Chief Chris Christopoulos, Jr. at 603-448-8810.
