On April 11th, 2023, at 10:17 AM, the Lebanon Fire Department responded to 39 North Park Street in Lebanon for a fire alarm activation. Upon arrival of the first due engine with two firefighters, a heavy smoke condition was located on the 3rd floor with a partially-extinguished kitchen fire in one apartment. The fire was contained to the apartment of origin. One female victim was removed by firefighters from the fire apartment and transported to Dartmouth Health, where she remains in stable condition.
Nine residents were displaced due to fire and water damage. Early detection of the fire by a functioning alarm system and sprinkler system contributed to life safety and limited property damage. There were no other injuries to residents or firefighters. The cause of the fire is not considered suspicious and is under investigation.
Lebanon Fire Department was assisted by Hanover, Hartford, Enfield, Canaan, and Norwich Fire Departments, and the Lebanon Police Department. Woodstock Fire Department, Plainfield Fire Department, and Canaan Ambulance provided city coverage.
