The Electric Vehicle Subcommittee would like to share that Advance Transit has launched two electric buses, one of which runs through Lebanon on the Blue Line. More e-buses will be arriving next year, replacing existing diesel-powered buses (and their polluting tailpipes). At a celebration for the new buses in the Advance Transit bus garage in White River Junction, Executive Director Adams Carroll showed off the electrical work being done there to add fast-charging equipment capable of recharging an entire fleet of e-buses.
Each e-bus has a range of around 180 miles per charge, and the next ones to arrive will have approximately 20% more battery capacity for an even longer range. Funding from the federal government and financial incentives from Green Mountain Power helped pay for the buses and infrastructure. Visit the Advance Transit website to learn more.
The next time you’re on the Advance Transit Blue Line bus, if it seems smoother and quieter than usual, look around, you may be riding on an e-bus!
