Board and Committee Vacancies: Seeking New Members!

Serving on a board or committee is a meaningful way to contribute to your community.  Our members have an essential part in local government as they help weave the fabric of the city. Their success is entirely reliant upon the selfless dedication of our volunteers along with the support of city staff.

Arts & Culture Commission

The Arts and Culture Commission was established for the purpose of promoting arts and cultural activities in the City of Lebanon. They cultivate relationships, activities and opportunities to grow Lebanon's cultural economy including but not limited to supporting the development of public-private partnerships that enhance quality of life and economic vitality, establishing policies for consideration and adoption by the Lebanon City Council for the integration of arts into all municipal buildings, structures and spaces, and establishing policies for consideration and adoption by the Lebanon City Council defining prospective spaces for, forms of and processes for the adoption of public art in Lebanon. Board of Assessors

The Board of Assessors is the decision-making authority for all real property assessments in the City. They ensure equitable, defensible assessments for all taxpayers in Lebanon, including decisions on property tax abatement requests, exemptions, and changes to property values. Please apply online.

Conservation Commission

The Conservation Commission was established for the purposes described in RSA 36-A:2, namely for the proper utilization and protection of the natural resources in the City of Lebanon, including but not limited to watershed resources, as elaborated in NH RSA 36-A:2. Please apply online.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission

The purpose of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission is to enhance the City's support for a welcoming environment by encouraging cooperation, tolerance, and respect among those living, working, and visiting the City; to provide information, education, and communication that facilitates understanding and celebrates our differences; and to advise City government in ways that unite the community and ensure all are equally respected, valued, needed, and cherished. Downtown Lebanon TIF Advisory Board

The Downtown Lebanon TIF Advisory Board was established for the purpose of advising the City Council on the policies and actions for the administration of the district related to planning, construction, and implementation of the TIF program, and on maintenance and operation of the district after the program has been completed. Economic Development Commission

The Economic Development Commission is responsible for coordinating the overall economic development of the City in accordance with the City’s sustainability objectives and adopted Master Plan, specifically to lead in the implementation and update of Chapter 6, Economic Development. Lebanon Airport-Tech Park TIF Advisory Board

The Lebanon Airport-Tech Park TIF Advisory Board is established in accordance with RSA 162-K:14 for the purpose of advising the City Council and the District Administrator on the policies and actions for the administration of the district related to planning, construction, and implementation of the Lebanon Airport-Tech Park TIF District Development Program, and on maintenance and operation of the District after the Program has been completed. Lebanon Energy Advisory Committee

The Lebanon Energy Advisory Committee works to identify opportunities for reducing energy use, increasing energy efficiency, exploring alternative energy usage, and reducing pollution to the environmental and fiscal benefit to the city. This board also oversees three subcommittees, which are comprised of LEAC members: the Electric Vehicle Subcommittee, Municipal Aggregation Subcommittee, and the Solar Subcommittee. Lebanon Tree Advisory Board 

The Lebanon Tree Advisory Board shall provide support, education, and advocacy for trees in the City of Lebanon.

Pedestrian & Bicyclist Advisory Committee

The Pedestrian and Bicyclist Advisory Committee was established to help make the City more safely walkable and bikeable by facilitating, enhancing, and encouraging safe pedestrian and bicyclist travel and connectivity in the City of Lebanon. They have been involved with projects and initiatives such as Safe Routes to Schools. Are you an avid walker or biker with ideas to improve safety in Lebanon? The Planning Board is responsible for reviewing all new construction, except one and two-family homes, and subdivisions of land occurring in the city. Reviews are carried out under Site Plan and Subdivision Regulations as established by the Board. The purpose of the West Lebanon Revitalization Advisory Committee is to work with the City’s Administration to develop plans for the revitalization and redevelopment of the Central Business District area of West Lebanon. Please apply online.

Alternate Positions

There are also alternate member positions available on several other Boards and Committees. Alternate members step in when there is not a quorum of regular members present for a meeting, which helps ensure that business continues uninterrupted. Being an alternate member is a great way to start volunteering. And, when a regular member steps down from a Board or Committee, alternate members are given preference to fill the vacancies.
