Electric and Fuel Assistance Programs

Fuel and Electric Assistance

The Lebanon Human Services Department would like to inform you about essential fuel and electric assistance programs available through Tri-County CAP to help ease the financial burden of your energy bills. To apply to the following programs, please call Tri-County CAP's Ashland, New Hampshire office at 603-968-3560.

Electric Assistance Program:

The Electric Assistance Program offers discounts ranging from 5% to 86% on monthly electric bills based on gross household income and size. Applications are accepted year-round. Additionally, the Neighbor Helping Neighbor Fund allows residents to apply for assistance in paying their electric bills. If you have electric heat, consider applying for the Fuel Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Note that Section 8 and some subsidized units are not eligible.

Fuel Assistance Program (LIHEAP):

Approved funds from the Fuel Assistance Program are directed to heating vendors or landlords if heat is included in the rent. Please inform Tri-County CAP staff about your housing situation in the initial phone call, as eligibility may vary. Ensure you provide all required documentation, including your most recent tax return. If unavailable, contact the IRS at 800-829-1040 to request a transcript.

Emergency applications for fuel assistance are accepted under specific circumstances, such as less than one week of fuel availability or the receipt of a Landlord/Tenant Writ indicating an eviction hearing for tenants with heat included in their rent.
