September 11, 2017 - This morning the Lebanon Police and Fire Departments held a September 11th Remembrance Ceremony at Lebanon Station 1.The remembrance ceremony included sounding of the department whistle in sequences of five blows in commemoration of those who lost their lives because of the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 16 years ago today.
The significance of the sequence of 5 relates to a long-standing fire service tradition of sounding "Box 5" by either ringing a bell or sounding a whistle to indicate the ultimate sacrifice, a line of duty death. Further, the whistle has been sounded this morning to reflect each significant time stamp of September 11th, 2001.
