On May 14, 2018 at approximately 6:36 AM, Lebanon Police responded to Hanover Street, in the area of High Street, for a report of a male subject with a knife who had threatened several people. Arriving officers investigated and located Patrick Smith, age 39, of High Street in Lebanon, nearby. The investigation determined that Smith was armed with a butcher’s knife and attempted to rob a 44-year-old female of her purse while she was walking on the sidewalk. It was further determined that Smith also attempted to “car-jack” a 37-year-old male of his vehicle.
Smith was taken into custody at the scene and the knife was recovered. During the course of the incident, Smith had also damaged a vehicle.
Smith was charged with Criminal Threatening with a Deadly Weapon, a Class B Felony (3 counts), Attempted Robbery, a Class A Felony (2 counts), and Criminal Mischief, a Class A Misdemeanor. Smith will be arraigned later today in the Grafton County Superior Court.
