[ARCHIVED] Arrests Made In Walmart Thefts

On December 26, 2016 at approximately 4:40pm, an unknown male entered Walmart and once inside the store, selected numerous electronic items and left the store without paying.  Lebanon Police responded, gathered information and took a report.  On January 5, 2017 at approximately 1:30pm, the same male from the December 26 incident returned to Walmart.  The male again selected numerous electronic items and left the store without paying. The total loss for both thefts exceeded $1,000.  In both instances, the male suspect was picked up by a person driving a maroon 4-door Chevy sedan.

A press release was issued asking the public for assistance in identifying both the male suspect and vehicle featured in the surveillance photos. As a result of numerous tips, two arrests were made.

James Shampney, age 26, of Newport, NH was arrested on January 27, 2017 at the Sullivan County House of Corrections, where he was being held on unrelated charges, and charged with two counts of Theft, Class A Misdemeanors.

Raymond Brewer, age 48, of Claremont, NH was arrested on January 27, 2017 pursuant to an Arrest Warrant and charged with two counts of Conspiracy to Commit Theft, Class B Misdemeanors, for driving the getaway car.

Brewer was released on $1,000 personal recognizance bail and both Brewer and Shampney will be arraigned on March 20, 2017 in the Lebanon District Division, New Hampshire Second Circuit Court. Due to the amount of loss involved in this case, both subjects could face upgraded charges at that time.
