1. Where can I find a list of current job openings with the City?

External postings may be reviewed at City Hall. City Hall is open to the public during the weekday hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All open positions are posted in accordance with current City policies and collective bargaining agreements. Positions for which external recruitment has been authorized are posted on our Job Opportunities page.

2. Where is the Human Resources office located?

5. Where should I direct an employment verification request?

6. Does the City conduct a background check on applicants?

All offers of employment are contingent upon an applicant’s successful completion of a background investigation. The extent and nature of the background investigation will depend upon the position for which the applicant is being considered and may include such inquiries as a criminal background check, motor vehicle check, pre-employment physical, testing, etc.

7. Can I send my application in for a job even if there are no current openings?

The City does not accept unsolicited applications for employment. Applications may only be submitted for an active, open position.

8. Does the City have copies of current collective bargaining agreements with each union?

The City maintains copies of each union's collective bargaining agreement. The City collective bargaining agreements can also be viewed/obtained at the New Hampshire Public Employee Labor Relations Board's website.

9. If I apply for a job, how long will my application remain active?

All applications remain active for a year. If you have applied in the past year and would like to be considered for another job opportunity, please contact the Human Resources office at 603-448-0683 to request that your application be submitted for the new job opportunity.

10. Are all City open positions posted to the public?

No. For example, a current collective bargaining agreement may require that a position be first posted internally for a period of time prior to being advertised externally.

11. Can I volunteer with the City?

The City values the dedication and contribution of its volunteers. 12. Does the City sponsor interns?

The City has entered into internship agreements with students in the past. If you are interested in an internship with a specific department, please contact that department's administrative office.
