1. What City construction projects are in process?

The City of Lebanon currently has several construction projects in progress throughout the City. To learn more about each project including who to contact if you have questions, please visit our Construction Projects page at LebanonNH.gov/Construction. 

2. When do I need a driveway permit?

You need a driveway permit whenever you add or change existing access to your property. For more details regarding driveway regulations, please review the City of Lebanon Application for Driveway Permit (PDF). Additional information regarding how to submit your application can be found on the Public Works Forms, Permits, and Standards page.

3. Where can I find a driveway permit form?

You can find an application for a driveway permit by visiting the Public Works Building or by downloading it from our Forms, Permits, and Standards page.

4. What requires an excavation permit?

An excavation permit is required whenever any work is to be performed in the City's Right of Way. 

The following information is needed to fill out an application: 

• name and address;
• tax map and lot number;
• contractor name, address, and phone number;
• description of the work to be performed and the amount of disturbance in the City's Right of Way;
• proof of liability insurance $300,000 to $500,000 bodily and $25,000 property;
• a bond which will be calculated by the City's Engineering Office.

5. I need a 911 address, where do I get one?

The City Engineer issues E-911 addresses for the City. You can call the Engineering Office at 603-448-3112. Please have the location of the proposed driveway and the tax map and lot number information for the parcel to be addressed. 6. Is my property in a flood plain?

To find out if your property is in the flood plain you can use the City of Lebanon GIS map system or the FEMA Map Service Center. You can also call the Department of Public Works at 603-448-3112 and ask to speak to the Engineering Office.

7. What is a road Right of Way?

All public roads are located within land, which is referred to as road right-of-way. Within a typical road right-of-way, the following public facilities can be found: the driving surface, roadside shoulders and ditch, public utilities, sidewalks, and traffic signs to name a few. Road right-of-way width is established by deed, statute, or through the platting process. Regardless, lands within the road right-of-way are reserved for use of the traveling public.

8. Where is the City's Right of Way?

There is no standard right-of-way distance for every road. Generally, the right-of-way ranges from 16.5 to 150 feet from the road’s centerline. Due to this wide range, it is important to find out the exact right-of-way distance before completing any work. For more information please contact the Department of Public Works at 603-448-3112.
