1. What type of planes use the Lebanon Airport?

For based aircraft, single-engine and two-engine piston planes with four to six seats, and small two-engine jets with six to eight seats use the Lebanon Airport. Transient aircraft are the same as the based aircraft along with corporate jets that weigh between 15,000 and 90,000 pounds and can carry up to 20 passengers.

Recommended times:

30 to 45 minutes for a New York flight.

30 minutes without luggage, 60 minutes with luggage for a Boston flight.

9. What airline destinations are served from Lebanon?

Boston Logan International (55 minute flight) 4 times daily, average round trip fare of $130 to connect with nationwide and worldwide destinations. White Plains / New York City (1 1/2 hours to White Plains and 1 additional hour to Midtown Manhattan 2 to 3 times daily. Round trip fare is $320. Fare includes flight to White Plains and executive ground transportation to 35th Street and 8th Avenue in New York City.

10. What is being proposed for the Runway Safety Area project?

The preferred alternative in the Final EA which is now being discussed, includes reducing the length of Runway 7-25 by 250 feet on both ends (and providing the Runway Safety Area on the top of slope). It also includes shifting the Runway 18 landing threshold (for landings from the north) to the south by 300 feet, shifting the Runway 18 end (usable end of runway for Runway 36 departures and landings) to the south by 700 feet, and extending the Runway 36 end (south end) by 1,000 feet.

11. Through Boston; how many domestic and international destinations are 1-stop from Lebanon?

There are 72 domestic destinations and 29 international destinations that are 1-stop from Lebanon (through Boston).

12. How long are the airport's runways?

Runway 7-25 (east to west) is 5,496 feet and Runway 18-36 (north to south) is 5,200 feet.

13. What are Runway Safety Areas?

A surface of either stabilized turf or pavement surrounding the runway suitable for reducing risk of damage to an aircraft if the aircraft should the aircraft undershoot, overshot, or veer off the runway. Federal Aviation Administration design criteria sets forth the required dimensions of the Runway Safety Area based on approach speed and wingspan of the critical/design aircraft.

14. What is the Runway Safety Area Project?

Federal Aviation Administration design criteria in-place since the early 1980s shows that the Runway Safety Areas should extend 1,000 feet beyond each of the 4 runway ends at Lebanon Airport; and 3 out of 4 runway ends to not meet criteria. 19. How are Airport capital projects funded?

Airport capital projects (improvements) are typically funded 90% by the Federal Aviation Administration, 5% by the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, and 5% by the City of Lebanon. The 5% City share in the last 6 years have been totally funded by airport-generated Passenger Facility Charge revenue.

21. What do I need to know before using a crane near the Airport?

USING A CRANE NEAR THE LEBANON AIRPORT             

 The Federal Aviation Administration requires a permit for ANY crane work within a 3-mile radius of any airport. The distance may be increased if the work is in the direct line of a runway – considered to be within the “glide path” of aircraft during takeoff or landing. The glide path is defined as a 1 foot per 100 feet slope beginning at the closest point of any runway. Work may be allowed if the max. height of the crane is below the glide path after compensations for topographical elevations are calculated.

You must file with the FAA at least 45 days prior to construction if:

• any construction or alteration that exceeds an imaginary surface extending outward and upward at any of the following slopes:
  • 100 to 1 for a horizontal distance of 20,000 ft. from the nearest point of the nearest runway of each airport described in 14 CFR 77.9(d) with its longest runway more than 3,200 ft. in actual length, excluding heliports
  • 50 to 1 for a horizontal distance of 10,000 ft. from the nearest point of the nearest runway of each airport described in 14 CFR 77.9(d) with its longest runway no more than 3,200 ft. in actual length, excluding heliports
  • 25 to 1 for a horizontal distance of 5,000 ft. from the nearest point of the nearest landing and takeoff area of each heliport described in 14 CFR 77.9(d);
• OR any highway, railroad, waterway or other traverse way for mobile objects, of a height which, if adjusted upward as defined in 14 CFR 77.9(c) would exceed a standard of 14 CFR 77.9 (a) or (b);
• OR your structure will emit frequencies, and does not meet the conditions of the FAA Co-location Policy;
• OR your proposed structure will be in proximity to a navigation facility and may impact the assurance of navigation signal reception;
• OR any construction or alteration exceeding 200 feet above ground level, regardless of location;
• OR any construction or alteration located on an airport described in 14 CFR 77.9(d);
• OR filing has been requested by the FAA.

 The consequences of not having an FAA permit are:
1) the Jobsite will be shut down and
2) a substantial fine.
